Security for IT Admins and Privileged Users

A practitioner course for people who hold the keys. It covers identity and privileged access, malware and safe software, cloud and network administration, website and domain control, backups and recovery, and vulnerability management, with a focus on the habits and records that show controls are actually working. It supports related ISO/IEC 27001 Annex A controls but does not by itself make an organisation compliant.

Who it’s for

In-house IT staff, managed service provider engineers, and anyone with administrator access to email, cloud, network, website, accounting or server systems in a small or mid-size business.

After this course, people can

  • Separate everyday and administrator accounts, protect privileged access with strong MFA, and review it on a schedule.
  • Keep systems patched and configured to an agreed baseline, and control changes so they can be traced and reversed.
  • Design, protect and regularly test backups so recovery works after ransomware or a failure.
  • Turn on, protect and actually review logs and alerts for critical systems.
  • Track vulnerabilities from discovery to verified fix, and keep evidence an auditor can follow.
